A red light panel seems simple: you turn it on and sit or stand in front of it. Yet, distance, position, and treatment time are important for using the device according to its intended specifications.

Why Distance Matters

The amount of light a surface receives changes when you alter the distance to the light source. Therefore, when using a panel, you shouldn't just look at the wattage. The recommended distance from the product manual is the practical starting point.

Where to Position the Panel?

Position the panel stably and ensure that the area you want to treat falls within the intended light zone. Avoid a position where you constantly have to move to keep the light on the desired area.

How Long Should a Session Last?

There is no universal treatment time for every panel. Devices differ in wavelengths, light intensity, and design. Therefore, use the schedule for your specific device. Our explanation of irradiance, dose, and fluence helps to understand why time alone does not provide enough information.

660nm and 850nm

Many red light panels combine red light with near-infrared light. The Kenza 660nm & 850nm panel uses both wavelength ranges. What a combination practically means, you can read in our articles about 660nm and 630nm and 830nm and 850nm.

A Simple Procedure

  1. Place the panel stably.
  2. Check the recommended distance.
  3. Place the desired body area within the light zone.
  4. Use the recommended treatment time.
  5. Turn off the device and allow it to cool down or store it according to the manual.

Common Mistake

A common misconception is: "If a little is good, more is better." With light therapy, this is not a safe way to determine a schedule. Adhere to the device's specifications and user manual.
