Red Light Therapy for Skin: How Often and For How Long?

Rood licht therapie voor de huid: hoe vaak en hoe lang? Kenza Beauty Lab

How long does a treatment take?

A standard red light therapy session lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the device and the treatment area. For the face, 10–20 minutes is sufficient. For larger body parts, this can go up to 30 minutes.

How often per week?

The frequency depends on your goal:

  • Anti-aging & skin rejuvenation: Daily or 5–6 times per week
  • Acne & inflammation: 3–5 times per week
  • Skin recovery after treatment: 2–3 times per week
  • Maintenance: 2–3 times per week after the initial treatment period

How long until you see results?

Be patient — red light therapy works at a cellular level and takes time. Most people notice an improvement in skin texture and radiance after 4 weeks. Visible reduction of fine lines takes 8–12 weeks of consistent use.

Can you use red light therapy too often?

Red light therapy is safe for daily use. There is no known hypersensitivity or damage with correct use. Listen to your skin — if you experience redness or irritation, take a day off.

Tip for best results

Combine red light therapy with a good skincare routine. After the treatment, use a hyaluronic acid serum and moisturizer — the skin is then extra receptive to active ingredients.
